Radiology/X-ray Technologist

Summary: Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing injuries and disease. Assist with administrative and clinical needs as appropriate, such as patient registration and medical assisting duties.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

 

  1. Greet patient, ensure that the patient has removed all jewelry and metal objects, is wearing the appropriate medical gown and is not pregnant.
  2. Prepare and position the patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  3. Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of the body as requested by the physician.
  4. Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  5. Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  6. Maintain a neat and clean working environment and ensure all supplies have been ordered and stocked.
  7. Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
  8. Utilize both digital and non digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all office policies and procedures.
  9. Prepare images for reading by physician as well as contact any additional physicians if a second opinion is needed.
  10. Aid physician with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures and protocol as necessary.
  11. Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  12. Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  13. Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.
  14. Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  15. Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  16. Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.

 

Education Requirements: Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.

Experience Required:  Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. ARRT-registered or board eligible preferred.

  • Record/report the need for service maintenance or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from service;

  • Multi-task and stay focused on the immediate task.

 

Work Environment:  Position is in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled office environment.
